Understanding & being understood

Communications professionals are better and effective managers

If you want to lead successfully, one of the key requirements is to be a professional communicator! It is your task as a manager to prepare and to support your employees for the existing and future challenges.

Our understanding of leadership is that management is communication. The person who asks questions shows leadership. Improve your communicative competence as a manager, by learning how to exchange information more successfully and more effectively in the team. Learn how to use your communications effectively for your management tasks. After all: the better you understand and the better you are understood, the more successful the collaboration and the better the results. Communication is different nowadays!

Managers learn how communication operates today. The modern world of work demands agile management: What is the interplay between objective and relationship levels? What do the four sides of a message mean today? What does digital transformation mean for me as manager? By becoming aware of your body language as a manager, you effectively improve your communication and learn to apply this successfully in practice. Using extensive exercises and tools, after this training you can conduct negotiations in a focussed manner, give your employees efficient feedback and listen actively as a manager.

With knowledge of the right de-escalation strategies, you take the ultimate step to becoming a communications professional: How do I recognise conflicts, how do I resolve and de-escalate conflicts? These questions are answered in Clean Leadership  Module 2.

Motivation & enthusiasm

The motivational manager

Managers need to be their own motivators, and know their own inner values and motivators. These are the things that drive them. Managers who know what they are doing and why are able to consciously develop.

Find out how you can use your motivational structure as a manager, along with your inner drives, successfully for yourself and in managing employees. Use these positive drivers to be an excellent and exemplary model for your team!

Motivational management therefore means, above all, management by leading example. That is the only way to generate enthusiasm and passion in your team.

In this training, you will discover your own talents and strengths and will know how to speak to your employees with greater compulsion, using motivationally-oriented management. What is the actual meaning of motivation, and which "buttons" need to be pressed to motivate yourself and others? These questions are answered in Clean Leadership Module 3. Successful managers know themselves – and recognise, encourage and support these strengths similarly in their employees.

The MSA MotivStrukturAnalyse® supports you in this: It shows the motivations, i.e. the inner drivers, thereby equipping you with a key for managing yourself and your team in a motivated way to better performance: only the things you have to do are "work", the things you are able to do become the things you want to do!

If employees do something with enthusiasm and are able to take on responsibility, they are generally highly motivated. We show you how you can operate effectively and efficiently as a manager for your employees, using the knowledge of the "four levels of management" and the "logic levels". Master your leadership responsibilities effectively and efficiently, using the right methods.

Goals & values

How managers enthuse themselves and their emplyees to achieve better results

If we do something with enthusiasm, then generally we are highly motivated. Empower yourself and your team to achieve the maximum, using enthusiasm and passion. Define SMART targets to achieve the best possible results. Distinguish preferences from professional and personal goals, and describe what you actually want to achieve. That way, you learn to concentrate your energy as a manager on the truly important goals. To be an inspirational manager and an excellent, exemplary model, use the knowledge of your motivational structure, your inner drive.

Create a checklist of what your personal values are and how your prioritise them. This is because these values determine your actions as a manager, and serve as the measure of your behaviour and of the behaviour of your employees. The study presented in this training shows you how knowledge of a manager's value orientation can have an impact on a company's success, if certain success-critical values are lived.

Define your SMART targets in Clean Leadership Module 4 – professionally, personally and in your private life. The theme of motivation will again be picked up in this module, since it offers insights into the question of which values play a decisive role in your company. Using recent practical examples, you will learn what values-oriented management means. The study supports you in defining values and drivers for your company that are relevant for success. Using the strengths analysis, you will become aware of your importance as manager and can implement this knowledge in your day-to-day working. You can similarly use your personal success and motivations diary in your long-term management.

Change & Chance

How to master change processes

The constant theme for managers is change: digitalisation, fast markets, globalised flows of goods, Customer 3.0, Generation Y in the company, agile teams and internal processes, innovation and disruption: everything requires constant change!

Interpret this change as a challenge as manager, and lead your team successfully through the constantly-changing conditions.

Effective communication is a critical success factor here in the change process. First understand, then be understood. Identify motivations and fears, see the opportunities, set to it with determination and improve your results by proactively shaping change.

After Clean Leadership Module 5, participants are aware of the responsibility they have for change as managers. They understand their role as manager, and apply the measures for managing change processes. Participants work up current examples drawn from practice, which they transfer in an analysed and reflected way to their day-to-day work and are able to implement effectively in their company.

Recruiting and onboarding

How to find and bind the right employees

The quality of the employees determines the quality of the company's success. While it is important to recruit qualified employees, it is equally difficult to find them amongst talented youngsters. In Clean Leadership Module 6, we show you new approaches in successful recruitment of top leaders. Gain clarity concerning the necessary qualifications for new employees and learn how to go about Recruiting 3.0!

Having completed this module, you will have perfected your initial approaches and appointments discussions, and also defined questions and answers for Generation Y.

Seven methods of recruiting employees are critical for successful Recruiting 3.0. With the right checklists and profiles of requirements for new employees, you can successfully conduct the initial discussions with your potential new recruit. Learn what is distinctive about Generation Y, what requirements of the employer are relevant for you, what makes Generation Y tick, and how relevant "employer branding" is today.

Using concrete examples, optimise your list of questions and build bridges, so that ultimately you can find the right employees for you.

Find out what role social media plays in this context, and use the right social media tools to find and bind the right employees. Devise a "90 plus 90 days (180-day) induction plan" and become a professional in onboarding new employees!

Criticism & parting company

Conducting critical discussions effectively

Criticising, in a way that's motivating – is that possible? As a manager, you can certainly be critical: "You've done it wrong again!" But the manager who criticises employees like this is unlikely to be a successful manager. Instead, in Clean Leadership Module 7 you will learn how it works properly, and how important "criticism" is in developing an employee.

If you criticise, you need to base it on facts. What precisely is the reason? What are the facts? Develop the "I-messages" in the discussion that can be a better form of presentation in critical situations and can often work wonders. Following this training, you will find neutral and fact-based forms of expression, and you can articulate your issues in a goal-directed manner. That way, you support your employees in understanding what you are wanting or demanding. Critical discussions are successful if the employee changes his behaviour.

Achieve clarity, structure and certainty regarding how the critical discussion is conducted, and reach your objective successfully – using practical guidelines for discussions and a specific checklist. That way, you can manage successfully, using and supported by these critical discussions. You will also learn about the rules applicable to severance talks in companies, and the things you need to be aware of as a manager. Use the critical discussion to draw different interests together on a mutual basis, to realise common goals despite different approaches, and to connect your ideas with those of your employees.

This training answers your questions about the issue of "critical discussions". Recognise the importance of rapport in your communication as manager, and learn how to convert your criticism of employees into development opportunities via targeted and structured preparatory and follow-up work around the actual discussion.

This module also guides you successfully through severance talks, using practical examples and concrete guidelines for discussions.

Teams & strengths

Working successfully in a team

Do you know the strengths and weaknesses of your team? In this module, you will learn which personality types and communications type matches yourself and your team members, using the TriMetrix (INSIGHTS MDI®) personality diagnostics tool. It's a different approach to learning how to use the motivation structure within the team successfully in team-building.

You will practice adapting effectively to the different characters in your team and to make optimum use of the strengths of each individual team member.

Managers learn successful team-building, and team leadership, with clear, managed communication: and here, the golden rule for successful communication is "speak to the other person in the way he or she likes. Succeed in getting people to act in the way that has been discussed!" The manager not longer assumes the role of the lonely decision-taker, but works in agile and highly competent teams as a moderator and mentor.

In this Clean Leadership Module 8, you not only learn about successful team-building, but also how to lead teams with clear and effective communication. You rehearse good teamwork. Only the rules of good teamwork make a group, and ultimately a successful team, out of a collection of good people!
